Representatives of the Samajika Samarasata Vedika said their efforts to facilitate the issuance of Scheduled Tribe (ST) caste certificates to eligible members of the Nakkala community living in Muthyampet, Dubbak, Kondapak, Siddipet, Bhoompalli, Husnabad and Cheriyal mandals of Siddipet district had begun to yield results. According to representatives of the Vedika, a Tahsildar and a Revenue Inspector had earlier visited Muthyampet village in Mirudoddi mandal of Siddipet district to examine the customs, traditions, lifestyle and practices of members of the Nakkala community.
More recently, the representatives met Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and brought the problems faced by Nakkala families to his attention, seeking intervention. The representatives said that following directions from the Governor, the Siddipet district administration responded and issued instructions to revenue officials, leading to the revival of the certificate-issuance process.
Samajika Samarasata Vedika State Convenor Appala Prasad and district president Dr Aravind Kumar urged the government to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Nakkala families across the State and issue ST caste certificates to every eligible family in accordance with the applicable rules. Kalia Yadagiri, Nakkala community State Welfare Association President demanded that the government should take steps to ensure access to education, employment and welfare opportunities.
