District Collector Sneha Shabarish visited the Government Boys Junior College on Thursday and reviewed various aspects of the institution's functioning, including admissions, student attendance and infrastructure facilities. During the visit, the Collector enquired about the college's admission status and emphasized the need to increase both student admissions and attendance percentages.
She also inspected the campus and directed officials to initiate measures for the demolition of an old building that is currently in a dilapidated condition.The Collector interacted with the college administration and sought information regarding the challenges being faced by the institution. Principal of the college brought to her attention the issue of rainwater accumulation on the campus during the monsoon season.
Responding immediately, the Collector instructed the concerned officials to install a sump at the affected location and use a motor pump to drain out the stagnant water. The Collector directed the relevant authorities to repair the college's RO water purification plant without delay to ensure uninterrupted access to clean drinking water for students.
