The self-enumeration process for Census 2027 was officially launched in Mancherial district on Sunday, with District Collector Kumar Deepak urging residents to actively take part in the exercise.

Addressing census officials during a review meeting at the Collector’s Chamber, the Collector said the self-enumeration drive will continue from April 26 to May 10 through the official online portal. Citizens can submit their household and family details digitally by answering 33 questions as part of the process.

He advised that each household should use only one mobile number while registering. Once the process is completed, applicants will receive an 11-digit identification number beginning with the letter “H,” which must be safely preserved and shared with enumerators during house visits starting from May 11. The Collector said nearly 1,000 people in the district completed self-enumeration on the very first day. He called for large-scale awareness campaigns involving public representatives, government employees, youth groups, and self-help organizations to ensure wider public participation.

The first phase of house listing will run until June 9, followed by the second phase of the population census. Officials said digital technology will help build an accurate and transparent population database for future welfare and development planning.
