As a protest against the manner in which the BJP-led central government is acting against the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), a large number of employment guarantee workers staged a massive protest.
On Monday employment guarantee workers gathered in large numbers at the headquarters of Srirangapur Mandal in Wanaparthy district and raised slogans against the central government. They expressed serious concern that the proposed G-RAM-G Bill would cause severe hardship to workers and alleged that the BJP government is attempting to completely abolish the employment guarantee scheme in the future.Strongly condemning the decisions taken by the central government regarding the employment guarantee scheme, the workers demanded that MNREGA be continued in the same manner as in the past.
They warned that if their demands are not met, they would launch large-scale agitations in the coming days.This programme was organised under the leadership of Wanaparthy district RGPRS President Rajendra Prasad Yadav. Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Organisation (RGPRS) TelanganaState Chairman Rachamalla Siddeshwar, Srirangapur Sarpanch Maddileti, Venkatapur Sarpanch Bharathi Ella Goud, along with a large number of employment guarantee workers, participated in the protest.
