Minister calls on Central Govt officials

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Transport, Youth and Sports, Mandipally Ramprasad Reddy on Friday paid a courtesy call on Sports Authority of India Deputy Director General, Khelo India, Mayank Srivastava in New Delhi. The minister informed that the state government is taking action for the development of sports in the state. During the meeting, the issues to further the sports sector of the state were discussed in detail.

 For the promotion of women sportspersons, the Minister highlighted the proposals of conducting women athletics in every district under the 'Asmita' scheme, sports competitions from district to state level with Sports Authority of India funds, 'Sunday on Cycle' fitness programs every Sunday, increasing the number of coaches, increasing the sports budget, etc. 

The Minister sought more special attention and support from Sports Authority of India for Andhra Pradesh. The Minister was assured that the central government would provide adequate support for the development of sports in the state and that a delegation would visit the state soon.
