Ministers drive into Assembly in electric vehicles

In a push for eco-friendly transport, Telangana transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, along with MLA Danam Nagender, on Monday travelled to the Assembly in an electric vehicle to promote the state’s EV policy.

On this occasion, the minister praised Tata Motors for offering 10% to 20% discounts on EVs for government employees and highlighted that the state, as part of its EV policy, has waived 100% road tax and registration fees on electric vehicles, granting benefits worth nearly Rs.1,000 crore till date. "In order to promote EV vehicles, the government is establishing charging stations and providing necessary infrastructure. I extend my gratitude to Tata Motors for responding to the government's appeal and coming forward today to announce concessions for the government employees,” he added. 

Further, the minister noted that Companies such as Mahindra Electric, Graviton Motors, Ola Electric, and Ather Energy had already stepped forward and supported the initiative, "On behalf of the government, I appeal to more companies to come forward and contribute to the promotion of EV vehicles.
