Speaking at the meeting, Bhupalapalli MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao on Wednesday expressed concern over the difficulties faced by farmers due to the delay in issuing truck sheets immediately after paddy procurement. A coordination meeting on the procurement of paddy and maize was held at the IDOC office with officials from various departments and rice millers. He stated that though the government is treating the ongoing procurement drive with utmost seriousness, decisions taken in review meetings were not being properly implemented at the ground level.

The MLA criticized officials for delaying the issuance of truck sheets even after weighment (kanta) at procurement centers and asked them not to make false statements in the name of “talu” (deductions). He mentioned that despite repeatedly instructing rice millers not to make unauthorized moisture deductions, many were ignoring the directions and called for strict action against such negligent millers. He also highlighted the difficulties faced by farmers due to unseasonal rains and further directed officials to conduct field visits and take strict action against anyone violating government norms.

Collector’s strict warning

District Collector Rahul Sharma stated that the government has issued clear orders to register criminal cases against transport contractors if they create any hurdles in the transportation of procured paddy. He warned that strict action was inevitable in such cases and described it as the “final warning.”He instructed that procured paddy must be immediately entered into the OPMS portal so that payments can be credited to farmers’ accounts within 48 hours. The Collector directed that daily reports on procurement should be submitted to him and emphasized that farmers should not face any inconvenience.
