MLA hails Nizamabad Ganesh Shobha Yatra

The Ganesh Shobha Yatra in Indur(Nizamabad) is considered one of the most prestigious celebrations after the state capital, with a rich and historic legacy, Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayan said. The MLA on Friday formally launched the chariot procession at Dubba Crossroads in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, he recalled that the Ganesh Rath Yatra in Indur was started during the freedom movement following Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s call to promote unity among people. He said the grand procession would proceed through the main streets of the city with 21 pairs of bullocks drawing the decorated chariot. The celebrations are being conducted with great enthusiasm and devotion, he added.

Suryanarayan said the youth of Indur were setting an example by organizing the festivities in a devotional spirit. He noted that the tradition of the Ganesh Rath Yatra had continued in the city for nearly a century. He also appreciated the various community organizations and voluntary groups in the city for conducting service activities throughout the procession. Several BJP corporators participated in the program.
