Mahabubnagar District Immunization Officer Dr. Padmavati attended the Mop-up day program held at Vagdevi Junior College in the district headquarters as the chief guest.On this occasion, Dr. Padmavati stated that since 2015, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has been implementing a deworming program to free every child in the country from intestinal worms, with the objective of improving the health, nutritional status, and quality of life of children aged 1 to 19 years.
She explained that soil-transmitted helminth infections cause anemia, malnutrition, and weaken both physical and mental development of children. To prevent this, every child is given an Albendazole tablet for deworming. However, she cautioned that children who are unwell should not take this tablet.
Medical Officer Dr. Gowthami, Dr. Surya, health staff Roja Lakshmi, Sandhya, Ramesh, college correspondent Vijetha Venkat Reddy, Principal Geetadevi, and others participated in the program.
