The woman on whom it collapsed, identified as Fiamma Villaverde, had gone to the theater with her 11-year-old daughter and her daughter's friend
A visit to a 7D hall promises an immersive, thrilling experience, but for one woman in Argentina, the horror became all too real at a regular theatre. While watching a 3D screening of Final Destination: Bloodlines and being engrossed during the sixth installment of the popular horror film, a shocking incident occurred that put things into real-life horror.
The incident took place at the Cinema Ocho theater in La Plata, Argentina, on Monday. As the film approached its gripping climax, a section of the movie hall ceiling collapsed, crashing onto the seats below and injuring a moviegoer. The woman, identified as Fiamma Villaverde, had gone to the theater with her 11-year-old daughter and her daughter's friend. What began as an ordinary movie time quickly turned into a terrifying ordeal.
First thought it was the sound effect
With the thrilling and loud sound effects and action sequences in the movie, the audience initially believed the thunderous sound of the ceiling collapse was all from the ongoing scene. “At first, we thought it was part of the movie because we were so absorbed,” Fiamma recounted in news reports. “But then a huge piece fell on me", she added.
Knee injury
A panel from the ceiling struck her knee, causing an injury that required immediate medical attention. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident not only disrupted the movie experience but also affected Fiamma's work life. She has had to take time off from her job at a local bar due to the injury. “I haven’t filed a complaint yet, but I’ve contacted a lawyer,” she said.
Internet reacts
As the visuals from the movie hall mishap surfaced online, netizens expressed their thoughts, "Horror experience just got real".
"She got the full experience", one user commented. "A final destination moment while watching final destination is absolutely insane", another added.
