Actress unveils first look and trailer of debut international film, showcasing powerful deglam role in an emotional migrant journey story

Actor Neha Dhupia has unveiled the first look and trailer of her debut international film 52 Blue, marking a significant shift in her career with a powerful deglam performance.

Directed by Ali El Arabi, the film is a coming-of-age drama that follows a young Indian football enthusiast’s journey as a migrant worker to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It explores themes of identity, aspiration, and resilience against an emotional family backdrop.

The film also stars Adil Hussain, who plays Dhupia’s husband, marking their first on-screen collaboration. In a departure from her previous roles, Dhupia portrays the mother of a young man, bringing emotional depth to a character central to the narrative.

Shot extensively in Kochi, 52 Blue traces the journey of Ashish (Yadav Shashidhar), a young boy growing up under the strict control of his father on a remote island. With the support of his mother and inspired by his late brother, he eventually breaks free and sets out to meet his idol, Lionel Messi, at the World Cup in Qatar.

Produced under Ali El Arabi’s banner Ambient Light, the film is executive produced by Tariq Al-Naama, with Krysanne Katsoolis, Joe Matthews, and Katara Studios serving as co-producers.

Speaking about the film, Dhupia described 52 Blue as one of the most transformative experiences of her career. She said the role allowed her to explore raw, instinctive emotions and embrace vulnerability without the constraints of glamour.

She also praised director Ali El Arabi’s storytelling, calling it honest and immersive, and added that shooting in Kochi brought authenticity to the narrative. Dhupia emphasised that the film is ultimately about dreams, resilience, and the quiet strength of a mother’s belief, which shapes her child’s journey.
