The government has initiated the construction of a new Osmania Hospital building within the Goshamahal Police Stadium premises. Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand inspected the ongoing works on Tuesday, stating that the police department’s existing blocks are being relocated.
The horse ground and stables have been temporarily moved to a vacant space within the stadium, and all police departments have now been fully shifted to make way for medical facilities. The government has allocated 11.5 acres to the Hyderabad City Police for development. Two five-storey buildings are under construction one will house the City Security Wing (CSW), while the other will serve as a parking area for vehicles seized across the city’s seven zones. A new horse stable and ground are also being built.
Additionally, 2 acres near the Traffic Training Institute have been allotted for police use. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has sanctioned Rs 55 crores for these projects, with completion expected within a year. With frequent protests and rallies in Hyderabad, a specialized 35-member unit of newly recruited women constables, named the ‘Swift Women Action Team,’ has been formed.
Trained in karate and safe detention techniques, they will handle situations involving women during protests. Plans are underway to expand the team into two platoons, totaling 42 members, further strengthening law enforcement efficiency.
