Telugu Desam Party founder and former Chief Minister NTR’s family members, political personalities and fans paid tributes to him on his 29th death anniversary in the city. NTR's sons Nandamuri Balakrishna, Ramakrishna, granddaughter Nandamuri Suhasini, actor Junior NTR Kalyan Ram, AP minister Nara Lokesh, Nara Bhuvaneswari reached NTR ghat and paid floral tributes.

On this occasion NTR Memorial Trust Managing Trustee and Chief Guest Nara Bhuvaneswari inaugurated the ‘Legendry blood donation’ drive and free medical camp at NTR Bhavan. In the blood donation drive, 2,257 blood units were received and NTR Memorial Trust and Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute organized a Cancer Awareness, Free Cancer detection camp held on this occasion.

Nara Bhuvaneswari thanked all the blood donors and distributed the certificates to the blood donors in the camp. On the occasion of completion of 28 years, NTR Trust will be organizing ‘euphoric musical night’ on February 15 at Vijayawada and a poster has been released by Nara Bhuvaneswari.

Speaking on this occasion, Nara Bhuvaneswari said “We are conducting blood donation camps at Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, and Hyderabad on the 29th death anniversary of NTR. Through this program, blood has been donated to the 8.70 lakh people so far, she said.

“So far 14,056 health camps were conducted by NTR Trust and 21 lakh people benefited from these health camps. For this Rs 23.43 crore has been spent from NTR trust, said Nara Bhuvaneswari.         

Balakrishna spoke to the media on the occasion. He said NTR was equal to himself as an actor and as a leader. He recalled that NTR had founded the Telugu Desam Party for the poor. “It is with NTR that political consciousness has come to Telugu people. My father was not interested in politics before TDP,” he said. He asserted that NTR had implemented bold schemes.

"NTR has brought many reforms to bring governance to the people. The present governments are still implementing NTR’s schemes. NTR is a university. He was a guide for the Telugu nation. NTR is the definition of acting,” he said. He stressed that NTR had introduced schemes that would benefit the poor. Balakrishna asserted that TDP was born out of the tears of the hardworking people and the hunger of the needy. He said it was only NTR who made the workers into leaders.

Nandamuri Balakrishna said NTR was the great man who gave drinking water to the city of Madras. He said NTR was an acting genius who experimented with acting. He said the TDP was born out of the hunger of the untouchables. He recalled that NTR had introduced terms that would benefit the poor.

Nandamuri Ramakrishna said the TDP was founded for the self-respect of Telugu people. Within nine months, the Telugu people made NTR the CM, he recalled. He said even though the regions are different, the Telugu people were the same.

Nara Lokesh said there was a demand to give Bharat Ratna to NTR and added that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu was in talks with the Central government for Bharat Ratna for NTR.  He asserted that the Telugu Desam Party would be rebuilt in Telangana and added that the TDP would be strengthened with the suggestions of senior leaders of AP and Telangana.
