Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has urged citizens and youth in and around Hyderabad to join a special oral cancer awareness run on April 26, 2026. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco products such as gutka, pan masala, khaini, and alcohol, which are widely used and pose serious health risks, particularly among young people.

Kishan Reddy highlighted that young people are the backbone of the nation and stressed the need for them to adopt healthy lifestyles free from addictive substances. He pointed out that tobacco use is widespread in India, from college students to the elderly, and is a major cause of life-threatening diseases, including heart ailments and cancers, especially oral cancer.

The awareness run, organized by social organizations in partnership with government efforts, seeks to educate the public and encourage preventive action. Participants will get an opportunity to understand the health hazards associated with tobacco use and contribute to a larger movement aimed at reducing consumption.

The minister appealed to citizens of all age groups to voluntarily participate in the April 26 event. He emphasized that collective action is crucial to protect future generations from oral cancer and other tobacco-related illnesses. Through this campaign, Kishan Reddy called for a stronger focus on health consciousness among youth and a commitment to promoting a tobacco-free lifestyle.
