Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan launched Nandanavanam, an ecological restoration programme aimed at reviving mining-degraded landscapes, after laying the foundation stone for Aranyaramam, a Rs 24-crore Forest and Environment Department research and training complex near AIIMS, Mangalagiri.

Marking the initiative, he planted a native banyan sapling in an area affected by extensive mining since 2013. He said Nandanavanam would help restore biodiversity, increase green cover and promote environmental sustainability.

Aranyaramam will serve as a hub for forest conservation, environmental governance, research and training. It will function as the command centre for the Hanuman initiative and support projects related to wildlife conservation, forest fire prevention, ecological restoration, climate resilience and eco-tourism.

Pawan Kalyan also visited a photo gallery highlighting wildlife rescue operations. Officials said the Forest Department conducted 185 wildlife rescues and resolved 36 human-wildlife conflict cases in 2024, earning praise from the Deputy Chief Minister.
