Police promote Shakthi App

Following directions of SP Ajitha Vejendla, police conducted an awareness campaign on Friday stressing the need to install the Shakthi App as part of efforts to prevent sexual harassment and other issues. Teams of cops visited busy locations including Atmakur bus stand, Madras bus stand, railway station, RTC complex, Anam Chenchu Subbareddy Vegetable Market, Chinna Bazar and Trunk Road.

They interacted with women and girl students, motivating them to install the app and explaining the download process, especially to those from rural areas. Despite intense heat, personnel continued outreach in crowded places. Police said the app also helps curb social evils such as child marriages, child and bonded labour, human trafficking, enforcement of the POCSO Act and narcotics control. The campaign received an encouraging response.
