Protest against data centres

Civil society groups are up in arms against the proposed data centres in the city. Several organisations took out a rally on Monday along the Beach Road on Sunday.

Protestors said that data centres were being rejected in the Western World due to its ill-effects on human beings. Authorities do not seem to bother about residents, they said.

The protesters demanded an immediate public consultation, adequate land and financial compensation for the affected farmers, and full transparency on the projects. They insisted that an Environmental Impact Assessment and a Social Impact Assessment be conducted before the projects proceed.
