KTR dares Cong over Rahul–Sonia Remarks
Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K T Rama Rao on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of political hypocrisy for targeting his remarks on Rahul Gandhi while ignoring past derogatory comments made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy against the Gandhi family. KTR asserted that his statements merely recalled Revanth Reddy’s own public remarks and challenged Congress leaders to question their Chief Minister if they truly cared about the dignity of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi.
Responding to the controversy, KTR said the Congress had conveniently forgotten that Revanth Reddy had repeatedly abused Rahul Gandhi, including calling him “Mudda Pappu,” a phrase that KTR said he only reiterated. He also alleged that Revanth Reddy had made offensive comments against Sonia Gandhi in the past, yet the same leader was elevated to the Chief Minister’s post by the Congress. “If Congress leaders have the courage, let them question Revanth Reddy first instead of lecturing the opposition,” KTR challenged.
KTR accused Congress ministers and MLAs of shielding Revanth Reddy while selectively targeting opposition voices. He said Congress lacked the moral authority to object to his comments when it had rewarded a leader who openly insulted the Gandhi family. Reiterating that BRS would continue to question Rahul Gandhi and the Congress government on the implementation of the six guarantees, KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy resorted to abusive language whenever pressed on unfulfilled promises.
Turning to governance issues, KTR criticised the Congress government’s two-year rule, describing it as a period marked by “evasions, demolitions and destruction.” He alleged that promises made to farmers were betrayed, citing irregular implementation of Rythu Bharosa and severe fertiliser shortages.
KTR further called upon party cadres to gear up for upcoming GHMC elections, urging them to highlight BRS’s development record in Hyderabad, including nearly ₹9,700 crore worth of works undertaken during the BRS regime. He also criticised defections, alleging that the Serilingampally MLA had betrayed the party for personal gains, but expressed confidence that public support for BRS and KCR remained strong.
KTR faults Revanth on Palamuru projects
KTR launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, accusing him of incompetence and political vendetta. He said the project was over 90 per cent complete, but the Congress government was deliberately stalling the remaining works out of fear that its completion would bring credit to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. KTR alleged that despite reservoirs like Narlapur, Kurivella, Vattam, Edula and Uddandapur being ready, canal works were cancelled to deny irrigation water to Palamuru farmers.
Calling Revanth Reddy “ignorant of water resources,” KTR mocked the Chief Minister for making factual errors about national irrigation projects and river basins. He recalled how KCR had personally inaugurated pumping operations at Narlapur, turning Palamuru into a symbol of irrigation progress. In contrast, he alleged that the Congress government was focused on dismantling check dams, reservoirs and barrages instead of completing pending works. KTR warned that farmers were being pushed into distress and crop holidays due to Congress’s neglect and reaffirmed that only the return of KCR could safeguard Telangana’s irrigation and agrarian future.
If Congress leaders have the courage, let them question Revanth Reddy first instead of lecturing the opposition.
