The Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan has decided to focus on strengthening the Congress party at the grassroots level, with special emphasis on the concept of Gram Swaraj. Reiterating the vision of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the organisation highlighted the importance of deeper democratic governance through effective decentralisation of power.

Recalling that Rajiv Gandhi introduced the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendment Acts to transfer powers from the Centre and State governments to local self-governing institutions, the Sangathan noted that these reforms played a pivotal role in empowering Panchayati Raj institutions across the country. In line with this vision, the organisation is preparing to intensify its activities at the village level.

As part of this initiative, a two-day National Executive Committee meeting of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan was held in the national capital, Delhi. The meeting was presided over by the national president of the organisation, Sunil Panwar. Telangana AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Shashikant Senthil, D M Sandeep, and Telangana Sangathan president Rachamalla Siddeshwar were among those who attended the meeting.

During the discussions, leaders deliberated on the organisation’s future course of action and strategies to strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots. Presidents and national executive members of the Sangathan from across the country participated in the meeting, sharing their views and inputs on taking the organisation forward in the coming days.
