The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Abdul Nazeer, has urged the Indian Red Cross Society, Andhra Pradesh state branch, to expand its welfare programs and bring its services closer to the people. Newly elected Chairman of the Red Cross state branch, Y D Ramarao, and newly elected Treasurer P Ramachandra Raju, along with General Secretary A K Parida, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Governor Nazeer stated that quality blood services are being provided to the public through 20 Red Cross Blood Banks across the state. He emphasized the need to modernize all Red Cross Blood Banks in the coming days to offer even better blood services to the people. For the first time in India, the Red Cross Guntur branch is set to launch a prestigious pilot project, “War on Single-Use Plastic,” with the goal of creating a plastic-free society. Governor Nazeer announced that he would inaugurate this project in Guntur city in March.
