Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur redefine heroism in Dacoit, a two-hero love story built on equality, emotion, and collaboration
Actor Adivi Sesh is set to break away from traditional solo-hero narratives with his upcoming pan-India film Dacoit: A Love Story. Calling it “a two-hero film,” Sesh emphasizes that the story is built on balance, respect, and equal emotional depth for both lead characters.
Known for prioritising story over stardom, Sesh believes a film doesn’t need to be led by just a male or female character — what matters is the strength of the script. “Dacoit is a love story at its heart,” he says. “And love stories aren’t one-sided — they’re a marriage of equals.”
Sesh, who also co-wrote the film, approached the project with a collaborative spirit. His co-star, Mrunal Thakur, is more than just a lead opposite him — she’s a creative partner. “From day one, it never felt like this was a one-protagonist film,” Sesh explains. “Both characters are complex and central to the world we’re creating.”
He praises Mrunal’s honest and raw acting style, saying it mirrors his own approach. “We’re both outsiders in the industry. That shared journey builds trust and understanding,” he adds.
What sets this partnership apart, according to Sesh, is the shared passion for the craft. “We’re not trying to outshine each other — we’re here to create something meaningful. That kind of commitment can’t be faked.”
With Dacoit being one of the most anticipated releases of the year, Adivi Sesh continues to challenge cinematic norms. By placing collaboration and story above ego, he’s redefining what it means to be a hero in Indian cinema today.
