Boosting the Andhra Pradesh’s digital growth agenda, Digital Connexion, the joint venture of Reliance Industries, Brookfield and Digital Realty, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to establish a world-class, AI-native data centre campus in Visakhapatnam. The project entails an investment commitment of Rs98,000 crore by 2030 to build 1 Gigawatt (GW) of data-centre capacity across 400 acres, positioning it among the largest digital infrastructure developments in the State.
The upcoming facility marks a major milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s strategy to emerge as a premier destination for high-end data infrastructure, cloud services, and next-generation computing. The campus is planned as a state-of-the-art ecosystem featuring high-density AI-ready racks, dedicated substations, redundant power systems and strong fibre connectivity, tailored to meet the demands of hyperscalers, enterprise clients, and emerging AI workloads.
The State Government, through APEDB and line departments, will facilitate fast-track execution of the project. This includes assistance in land allocation, regulatory and environmental approvals, and ensuring high-quality supporting infrastructure such as reliable power supply, road access and digital connectivity. Officials stated that the government remains committed to fostering an investor-friendly climate and enabling the seamless rollout of transformative projects.
Beyond infrastructure, the data-centre park is expected to generate substantial socioeconomic impact. It will create direct and indirect employment during both construction and operational phases, catalyse local vendor participation, and accelerate the development of a broader digital ecosystem in the region.
This large-scale investment by Reliance, alongside global partners Brookfield and Digital Realty, aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s long-term vision of building a future-ready economy driven by AI, cloud infrastructure and technology-led innovation. The project reinforces the State’s ambition to position Visakhapatnam as a national hub for digital infrastructure while opening new avenues of growth for industries, investors and youth alike.
