Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday requested Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi to consider implementing a nationwide distribution of fine rice, similar to the current initiative in Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, attended a breakfast meeting with Union Minister Prahlad Joshi at a hotel in Hyderabad.

During their discussion, Revanth Reddy highlighted the successful distribution of fine rice to beneficiaries through ration shops in Telangana. The Chief Minister emphasized that the goals of welfare programs can only be achieved if the rice supplied matches the variety that people consume. He suggested that a study be conducted if necessary to support this initiative and called for an appropriate decision to be made.

In response to Revanth Reddy’s proposal, Prahlad Joshi acknowledged the suggestion and stated that a decision regarding the nationwide distribution of fine rice would be made after conducting a comprehensive study. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Seshadri, Civil Supplies principal secretary Stephen Ravindra and other senior officials participated.
