Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, announced on Friday that Tirupati will be developed into a major anchor hub for both national and international tourism. Speaking at the Regional Tourism Investors Summit in Tirupati, he presented a roadmap to transform the temple town into a multi-dimensional destination blending spirituality, culture, and leisure.

Durgesh highlighted that Andhra Pradesh attracted nearly ₹12,000 crore in tourism investments within a year—contrasting it with "virtually zero" under the previous regime. “Investor confidence in the NDA coalition is reshaping our tourism landscape,” he said.

Tirupati is being positioned as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) tourism hub. Luxury hotels and resorts are being planned, alongside efforts to promote the city as a destination wedding hotspot in collaboration with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The state’s tourism strategy also includes eco and adventure tourism in the Seshachalam forests, with trekking, water sports, and visitor centers planned around red sanders regions. A new tourism circuit will connect Tirupati with Chandragiri Fort, SV Zoological Park, Talakona Waterfalls, Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, and the Sullurpeta Flamingo Festival to encourage extended stays.

Durgesh said the State Investment Promotion Board has approved ₹3,482 crore worth of hospitality projects in Tirupati, adding 2,698 hotel rooms and generating employment for nearly 11,600 youth. Leading hospitality brands like Novotel, Marriott, Oberoi, Lemon Tree, Atmosphere, and Mahindra are coming on board.

The Minister also announced the upcoming Home Stay Policy, which aims to create 10,000 home stays across the state. Traditional and heritage homes in Tirupati will be repurposed to offer authentic cultural experiences, especially for foreign tourists.

Assuring investors of full support, Durgesh said the government will provide land, incentives, and single-window clearances under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
