Shri Raghavendra Rao Harnoor popularly known as Harnoor Saab, or RVH among media friends especially those who worked with the Indian Express, Hyderabad breathed his last at about 3am on March 11 at 87 years of age.
He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. His son and daughter penned a very touching farewell for their loving father. His son and daughter said ‘Dad was the most humble, honest, down to earth ever smiling and knowledgeable person who was a great dad and good husband. He was a very principled person who was a perfectionist in anything and everything he did,’ they said.
‘Words cannot describe his command over English literature, music, Urdu shayari, and linguistics. We have innumerable stories of his knowledge of languages that still bring a smile to our face. He was impeccable and unparalleled in this field,’ Harnoor Saab’s children said.
‘He wrote names on rice grains even a few years ago on everyone’s requests. His handwriting was to die for. He loved babies. His love for and knowledge of Hindustani classical and even old Hindi songs was to another level. While he knew and sang thousands of songs, there was a particular song from a movie called Mamta called “Rahe na rahe hum” that was one of his favorites and whenever he sang this I used to be saddened especially in the last two years’, they said. We can go on and on about this gem of a person. He was a jolly good fellow and will always remain a jolly good fellow for us, they said.
