South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified its monsoon preparedness with a comprehensive safety review held on August 16 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. The meeting, led by General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, focused on ensuring safe and uninterrupted train operations across the zone during heavy rains. Officials from all six divisions—Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded—joined the session via video conference.

Ahead of the review, the General Manager inspected the Disaster Management Room and monitored live feeds from vulnerable locations. He stressed the importance of 24x7 operational readiness and directed teams to maintain close coordination with local and state authorities for real-time updates.

The review emphasized vigilance at flood-prone infrastructure such as bridges, tunnels, and road under bridges. Key instructions included round-the-clock staffing of disaster control centres, maintaining emergency stockpiles of essential materials, and conducting regular inspections at critical sites. Officials were also advised to complete pending repair works promptly or defer non-essential ones.

To enhance situational awareness, footplate inspections during heavy rains were recommended. Help desks will be set up at major stations to assist passengers during service disruptions. Additionally, overgrown vegetation near tracks and overhead equipment will be trimmed to prevent operational hazards.

Field supervisors were urged to remain alert and respond swiftly to any emerging issues. The General Manager reiterated that monsoon preparedness is a proactive safety measure, requiring coordinated efforts and timely action across all levels of the railway network.
