The second phase of the Social Awareness Rath Yatra, led by Telangana Rashtra Lok Dal (TRLD) President and former MLC Kapilavai Dileep Kumar, commenced on Thursday from the RLD camp office in Hyderabad.
Addressing the gathering, Dileep Kumar highlighted the success of the Yatra’s first phase, noting a strong awakening among Backward Classes (BCs) and visible unity among Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) across Telangana. ‘If SC, ST, and BC communities unite politically without splitting their votes, the reins of state power will eventually come into their hands,’ he said.
Smt. Kapilavai Indira, RLD National Women’s President, emphasized the party’s commitment to encouraging youth participation in politics. She added that with social consciousness as the foundation, a higher proportion of seats would be allocated to marginalized communities in the future.
V G R Naragoni announced plans to form a Joint Action Committee under the RLD, appealing to Jayant Singh for support. R Krishnaiah, Rajya Sabha MP, recalled the legacy of former Prime Minister Charan Singh, under whom the Mandal Commission was established, urging Jayant Singh to champion legal recognition for BCs.
The event was attended by TRLD leaders including Komatireddy Gopal Reddy (State Vice President), M S Baig (Hyderabad President), Beerappa (Yadadri Bhuvanagiri President), and several general secretaries, marking a significant push for the party’s social awareness and political outreach initiatives.
