A 32-year-old resident of Secunderabad has lost Rs 75 lakh in a major online betting and casino fraud that continued over four years.

The victim stated that in 2021 he received a WhatsApp message from a number claiming to be an online betting platform. The message promoted games like Cricket, Teen Patti, and a game called Fivestar Cricket Aviator Flight Game, assuring easy profits. Initially, he deposited Rs 10,000 and received a small profit, which gained his trust. Encouraged, he deposited a total of Rs 10 lakh in multiple transactions during 2021 through bank accounts provided by the operators, but eventually lost the entire amount.

In March 2022, the same individuals persuaded him to play on another platform, promising a lower minimum deposit. Believing them, the victim resumed playing and between 2021 and 2025 deposited a total of Rs 75 lakh using bank accounts, UPI IDs, QR codes, and cash deposit machines across several betting websites. Ultimately, he suffered heavy financial losses.

Authorities warned that such acts amount to cheating, online fraud, and illegal online betting. Members of the public are advised to avoid betting platforms, games claiming guaranteed profits, and messages from unknown contacts on WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, or social media. They should never share bank details, UPI IDs, OTPs, or passwords. Suspected fraud should be reported immediately at www.cybercrime.gov.in or via the helpline 1930, and in emergencies, people can call or WhatsApp 8712665171.
