Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati of Dwarka Sharada Peeth, visiting Chhindwara on Friday, warned against the growing conflict between power and religious principles, terming it “religionless politics.” He emphasized that politics must follow dharma (righteousness), cautioning that deviations cause systemic disruptions.

Commenting on the Uttar Pradesh standoff involving Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, he described restrictions on the ‘Ganga snan’ as violations of religious freedom and praised the Swami for defending Sanatan traditions. Addressing national security, he expressed concern over terrorism and “intellectual terrorism,” citing incidents where professionals from Indian institutions plotted against the nation.

The Shankaracharya argued that existing constitutional and SC-ST provisions suffice for punishment, making new caste-specific laws unnecessary. He also lauded a Muslim MLA from Bhopal for advocating a ban on cow slaughter, calling it a model of inter-community harmony.

Sadanand Saraswati arrived at Chhindwara via special flight at Imli Kheda airstrip.
