Andhra Pradesh Congress chief Y.S. Sharmila has launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging political shielding in the sensational Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

In a sharp statement on Friday, Sharmila claimed that Prime Minister Modi has been protecting Jagan and his cousin, Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy, by pressuring the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to dilute the probe. “Jagan is like a foster son to Modi. That is why both he and Avinash are being shielded, while the CBI is being throttled,” she alleged.

Raising pointed questions on the lack of progress in the case, Sharmila asked, “Why is a retrial or reinvestigation not being conducted? Why not?” She said despite years of struggle, justice continues to elude the family. Extending her support to Viveka’s daughter, Dr. Suneetha, Sharmila remarked, “Her fight for justice is genuine, and I fully stand by her.”

Turning her ire on the investigative agency, the Congress state chief alleged that the CBI has reduced itself to a puppet in Modi’s hands. “Had the CBI acted with integrity, the culprits would have been punished by now,” she said.
