Singareni Colleries Corporation Limited(SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director(CMD) N. Balram called upon all Area General Managers on Thursday to significantly increase production to compensate for the shortfall caused by heavy rains during the first half of the year and to achieve the set targets, as the monsoon has now completely subsided. He held a detailed review meeting at Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad with the company’s Directors, Corporate General Managers and all Area General Managers—examining area-wise coal production and dispatch status.
During the meeting, he emphasized that to achieve the November target of 72 lakh tonnes of coal production and dispatch, daily output must reach 2.4 lakh tonnes, and a minimum of 13.75 lakh cubic meters of overburden must be removed every day. He instructed all teams to work collectively to ensure safe and efficient production. Though SCCL has diversified into other business ventures, the core activity remains coal production, he said and urged everyone to focus on it.
He directed that every employee or officer should receive opportunities strictly as per company regulations, and warned that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated. He stated that the company aims to become an accident-free organization, but regretted that three fatal incidents occurred last year. He called upon all officers to ensure zero fatalities this year and to take stringent measures to prevent accidents, particularly by intensifying inspections in underground mines.
The CMD also reviewed progress on new projects. He instructed that, as all approvals have been received for the VK Open Cast mine at Kothagudem, a minimum of six lakh tonnes of coal must be produced from it by March next year. He stated that four new mines should commence operations during this year. For the first time, instead of the usual monthly video conference reviews, the CMD convened an in-person meeting of all Area GMs, alongside the company’s Directors and Corporate GMs, for a comprehensive and detailed review. Several decisions related to area requirements were made on the spot.
