Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has launched a special monitoring drive to ensure coal quality from production to dispatch amid rising power demand in Telangana due to El Niño conditions.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr Buddhaprakash Jyoti has appointed Special Officers for each mining area for the next three months to oversee coal production, grade protection, dispatch, productivity, process improvement and coordination between area and corporate departments.
Director (Operations) L.V. Suryanarayana will monitor Sathupalli and Yellandu areas, Director (Projects & Planning) K. Venkateswarlu will oversee Manuguru and Bhupalpally, Director (Finance) Bellampalli and Mandamarri, Director (E&M) M. Tirumala Rao will handle RG-I and RG-III, Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna will monitor RG-II and Naini, while General Manager (Marketing) will oversee Srirampur and Adriyala Project.
The CMD held a video conference with Area General Managers on Saturday and reviewed coal production, quality, grade protection and dispatch systems. He said coal quality remains the identity of Singareni and instructed officials to ensure there is no compromise in supplying coal as per the declared grade.
Officials were directed to prevent the mixing of ungraded coal and shale, carry out mining operations seam-wise as per the Annual Coal Gradation Plan, and maintain strict segregation of rock and shale from coal.
The CMD instructed officials to clean coal benches before blasting, maintain proper distance between coal and overburden benches, and implement Standard Operating Procedures for coal gallery housekeeping and fiery coal management.
He also directed all opencast mines and Coal Handling Plants (CHPs) to ensure sufficient crushers are installed and operational. Every CHP should prepare daily grade-wise dispatch plans and officers must take responsibility for quality control at every stage.
The CMD said maintaining consumer confidence in Singareni coal quality is the responsibility of every officer and stressed the need to further strengthen the company’s reputation through consistent quality supply.
