Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur-starrer Son Of Sardaar 2 witnessed only a marginal growth in its box office collection on Saturday, its second day in theatres. The film earned ₹7.50 crore, bringing its total to ₹14.75 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The action-comedy, which released on August 1, clashed with Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. Son Of Sardaar 2 had opened with ₹7.25 crore on Friday. Despite the slow start, the film is benefitting from positive word-of-mouth and is expected to show stronger numbers on Sunday, possibly ending its opening weekend on a steady note.
The highest occupancy for Son Of Sardaar 2 was recorded during the night shows at 44.65%, while the morning shows saw the lowest turnout. The film is performing particularly well in Mumbai and the northern belt. Meanwhile, Dhadak 2 showed a slight improvement on Saturday, earning ₹3.75 crore on its second day, up from ₹3.50 crore on Friday. Its total collection now stands at ₹7.25 crore. Despite going head-to-head with a big-budget film, Dhadak 2 has held its ground, aided by a decent response and growing word-of-mouth. The film started slow on Saturday but picked up pace as the day progressed. Night shows recorded the highest occupancy at 36.88%.
