Hyderabad: Special Operation Team (SOT) of Shamshabad and Shadnagar police jointly arrested a drug peddler in Shadnagar PS limits and recovered 1.5 kg heroin, 632 gram opium, 2.8 kg poppy straw and 1kg ganja and Rs 89,700 net cash, digital weighing machine, poly covers and three Smart Phones all worth of Rs 3,05,27,700 from him.
The drug peddler identified as Vikas Sohu (26), joined as a watchman at a dhaba in 2019. Slowly he learned cooking and started working as a cooking master. However, his dhaba owner Sanju Bhai has a habit of smoking ganja, and he would buy ganja from Salim of Dhulpeta and sell it to other state drivers, lorry drivers, pedestrians, and so on who come to the dhaba.
In 2022, both Vikas Sohu and Sanju Bhai were arrested by Jadcherla Police for selling ganja near Jadcherla Bus Stand and were arrested and prosecuted. After their release, they resumed selling ganja. On April 28, 2025, Sanju Bhai passed away due to illness, after which Vikas continued selling these substances.
Last week, Vikas purchased 1.5 kg of heroin, 750 gram of opium, 3.5 kg of poppy straw from Ganpath, and 1.5 kg of ganja from Raju. He sold a portion, earning Rs 89,700, and the remaining quantities were: 1.5 kg heroin, 632 gram opium.
