Sridhar Babu urges bilateral cooperation and expertise exchange with Cuba

Minister for IT and Industries, Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Tuesday emphasised the need for mutual progress through the exchange of skills and expertise, while calling for deeper bilateral cooperation between Telangana and Cuba. He said the State government is committed to building global partnerships that foster innovation, economic growth and cultural understanding.

The Minister held discussions with H.E. Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, Ambassador of Cuba to India, and First Secretary Maiky Díaz Pérez at the Secretariat. The meeting focused on collaboration possibilities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, artificial intelligence, IT, innovation, agriculture, sustainable farming, sports excellence and culture.

Sridhar Babu said Telangana is prepared to extend support to Cuban startups through T-Hub, T-Works and WE-Hub, and collaborate in AI-based diagnostics, pharma research and public health data management.

He invited the Cuban delegation to visit Genome Valley, one of the world’s top seven life sciences clusters, to explore opportunities in research, manufacturing and technology transfer. The Minister also expressed interest in leveraging Cuba’s globally recognised expertise in boxing and athletics to strengthen Telangana’s sports ecosystem.

Highlighting Telangana’s vision of emerging as a national model for international cooperation, the Minister said the State’s innovation-focused policies and world-class infrastructure have attracted global interest and investment.

Ambassador Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera appreciated the State’s proactive approach and said Cuba is willing to work closely with progressive, innovation-driven regions like Telangana. He expressed interest in expanding cooperation across science, technology, healthcare and cultural exchange. The meeting was also attended by Madhusudan, Director, Telangana Investment and Promotion Cell, and Dr. Shakti Nagappan, Director, Telangana Life Sciences Foundation, along with officials from the IT and Industries department.
