In an age dominated by an overload of health-related information from digital platforms and social media influencers, finding clear and reliable medical guidance has become increasingly difficult. Addressing this growing concern, STAR Hospitals has launched on Monday a community-focused healthcare education initiative, “STAR Chai Pe Charcha,” at its Nanakramguda unit, designed to bring people back to meaningful and value-based conversations around health.
“STAR Chai Pe Charcha” offers residents an opportunity to engage in calm, face-to-face discussions with senior medical specialists in a relaxed, semi-formal setting. Built on a simple yet powerful idea, the program creates a friendly environment where community members can interact directly with doctors, ask questions freely, clarify myths and facts and better understand recent medical advancements.
Emphasizing the importance of community-level healthcare education, Dr Bharat Kumar Nara, Senior Consultant & Head, Surgical Gastroenterology said that programs like ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ help communities pause, disconnect from screens and reconnect through meaningful conversations. As part of the initiative, representatives from selected residential societies form a discussion panel and interact with an expert panel from STAR Hospitals Nanakramguda.
Senior consultants lead these sessions, answering queries and offering practical, lifestyle-oriented guidance. During the inaugural session, representatives from Prestige Tranquil shared real-life perspectives, community concerns and everyday experiences. A key highlight of the session was an engaging discussion on the indiscriminate use of antibiotics and the rising challenge of antibiotic resistance. The open format encouraged residents to ask questions, share concerns, and leave with practical, actionable insights.
