Medicover Hospitals announced that they have performed successful delivery of a healthy baby through an emergency cesarean section in a rare and high-risk case involving a pregnant woman with a history of brain tumor and hypothyroidism.
The 27-year-old patient, Sindhuja, is a known case of midbrain glioma, previously treated with radiotherapy in 2015 under the care of Dr. Amit K Jotwani, Senior Consultant Radiation Oncologist. She has also been on long-term thyroid medication for hypothyroidism.
Upon the recommendation of Dr. Amit, Sindhuja visited Medicover Women & Child Hospital for further care. On admission, she underwent a comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation by teams from Obstetrics, Neurology, and Radiation Oncology.
Given the complexity of her neurological condition and lack of progression in labor, the team decided to perform an emergency Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS) under general anesthesia. The surgery was successfully conducted on May 20, 2025, and both mother and baby are doing well.
