Swift response prevents casualties in NIMS Fire incident

Hospital authorities have confirmed that all patients are safe, and normal operations have resumed. The administration has also initiated a detailed inquiry to prevent such incidents in the future

A minor fire incident occurred at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, in the old building's special ward around 3:30 PM. Prompt action by hospital staff and emergency responders ensured that all patients were safely evacuated and no casualties or injuries were reported, Medical Superintendent N Satyanarayana said in a press release

The fire was triggered by a short circuit in an air conditioning unit. Upon noticing smoke, the hospital team immediately cut off the power supply, activated internal fire safety protocols, and safely relocated patients from the affected area. The fire department was contacted without delay and quickly brought the situation under control.
