Task force busts auto, battery theft gang in Hyderabad

The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone, along with Pahadishareef Police, arrested two persons involved in a series of auto-rickshaw and vehicle battery thefts and seized stolen property worth Rs 7 lakh.

The accused were identified as Mohd Akber (35), a labourer from Chintalmet, and Faizullah Khan alias Faiz (42), a flower businessman from Kishanbagh. Another accused, Mohd Hameeduddin alias Imran (27), an auto driver from Jirrah, is absconding.

Police seized three Bajaj passenger autos and nine vehicle batteries belonging to tractors and DCM vehicles from their possession. The gang was allegedly involved in several theft cases registered in Mahabubnagar, Jadcherla, Maheshwaram, Medchal and Pahadishareef police stations.

According to police, the accused met in Chanchalguda Central Prison while serving jail terms in earlier theft cases and later planned fresh offences after their release. They allegedly stole autos and vehicle batteries from parking areas in Hyderabad and surrounding regions to make easy money.

Police said efforts are on to trace the absconding accused.
