Task Force busts bike theft racket, five vehicles recovered

The Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, Hyderabad, in coordination with Borabanda Police, apprehended a notorious habitual day burglar and bike theft offender along with a receiver of stolen vehicles. In the operation, the police recovered five stolen two-wheelers worth about Rs 2.5 lakh.

The prime accused, identified as Manjul Tushar (23), a hotel helper residing at Indira Nagar, Borabanda, was involved in multiple thefts across Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerate limits. The second accused, Mohd Waheed (22), a fruit vendor from Chitalmet, Suleman Nagar, was arrested for receiving and storing the stolen motorcycles for further disposal.

During the operation, police seized five stolen two-wheelers, including a Unicorn motorcycle and four scooters of various makes, pertaining to cases registered at Madhura Nagar, SR Nagar, Madhapur, Kukatpally, and Alwal police stations.

The accused confessed to their involvement in at least six cases registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Borabanda, Madhura Nagar, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Alwal, and SR Nagar police stations.

According to police, Manjul Tushar is a native of Borabanda. His father passed away due to ill health, while his mother works in the Civil Supplies Department at Khairatabad. He discontinued studies after intermediate and took up various petty jobs. Over time, he reportedly developed addictions to alcohol, ganja, and online betting, and aspired to lead a lavish lifestyle.

In pursuit of money, he initially committed theft at his own residence by stealing his mother’s gold ornaments using available keys. He later sold the stolen gold in Madhya Pradesh and spent the proceeds extravagantly. Subsequently, to fund his lifestyle, he resorted to stealing two-wheelers from different localities in the city and parked them at the receiver’s residence.

On December 18, 2025, while patrolling in the Borabanda limits, the South West Zone Task Force team and Borabanda Police apprehended both the offender and the receiver and recovered the stolen vehicles.

The arrests were made under the supervision of Inspector G. Santosh Kumar of the South West Zone Task Force, with the efforts of DI G. Saidulu of Borabanda Police, SIP G. Vijayanand of the Task Force, and their staff.
