Malla Reddy Narayana Hospital (MRNH) has successfully performed a highly advanced Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) on a 79-year-old male patient suffering from severe aortic valve disease and recurring breathlessness. The minimally invasive heart procedure was performed by Dr. Prakash Ajmera, Senior Interventional Cardiologist at MRNH.
The patient had been experiencing chest tightness, dizziness, and breathlessness on exertion, for which he initially sought treatment locally. He was managed for heart failure, but his symptoms persisted, affecting his daily life. At MRNH, advanced evaluation revealed severe Aortic Stenosis with Moderate Aortic Regurgitation, along with reduced heart function. Considering his age and risk factors, Dr. Prakash Ajmera recommended the TAVI procedure, a safer alternative to open-heart surgery. The procedure was successfully performed without complications, and the patient was discharged in stable condition within just three days.
