A new charitable blood bank, Sevabharathi Dr. Hedgewar Blood Bank, was inaugurated in on Sunday by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at the YMIS Granthalaya building, Koti. The ceremony was graced by G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal & Mines as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries included Suhas Rao Hiremat, All India Karyakarini Sadasya, RSS; Sunil Sapre, President, Rashtriya Sevabharathi; and Ale Shyam Kumar, Akhila Bharatiya Dharma Jagaran Pramukh. The program was presided over by Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Member, National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) and Former Chairman, DRDO.
Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted that timely access to safe blood can be life-saving and called upon citizens, especially youth, to actively participate in donation initiatives. Special appreciation was extended to Dr. Atul Kulkarni, Director, Janakalyan Blood Centre, Pune for his technical guidance and to Shyam and Sekhar for their efforts in bringing this vision to reality.
Speaking on the occasion, D. Durga Reddy, President, Seva Bharathi Telangana noted that Sevabharathi already operates a hospital in Mallepally, a diagnostic centre and a Nursing Assistant Training Centre in Bowenpally.
