TELANGANA HORTICULTURE DEPT TO HOLD URBAN FARMING TRNG ON DEC 13

The Telangana Department of Horticulture will conduct a training programme on "Urban farming and indoor mushroom cultivation" on December 13, 2025, aimed at promoting sustainable food production in shrinking urban spaces. The programme, scheduled from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Telangana Horticulture Training Institute (THTI), here at Red Hills, is part of the "Mana Illu Mana Kuragayalu" initiative that encourages families to grow pesticide-free vegetables at home.

Citing ICMR recommendations that adults consume 400 grams of vegetables daily, officials said urban farming and controlled mushroom production can boost nutrition, income, and employment with minimal space and manpower. The initiative also aims to promote public health and reduce carbon emissions by encouraging household-level cultivation of fresh produce.
