The Telangana Fire Disaster Response Emergency and Civil Defence department has launched a seven-day Civil Defense Volunteer Training program to prepare youth to act as 'first responders during emergencies'. The training program, being held from March 9 to 15 this year, was inaugurated by G. V. Narayana Rao, Director of Fire Services, at PG College Saifabad.
Participants will receive training in rescue operations, firefighting, first aid, crowd control, and relief distribution, enabling them to assist authorities during disasters such as air raids, chemical incidents, nuclear emergencies, and natural calamities. Vikram Singh Mann, Director General of Fire Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defense, emphasized that trained volunteers would play a crucial role in supporting emergency services and saving lives during disasters. Officials from the Fire Department, including RFO B. Sudhakar Rao, Principal D. Karuna Sagar and Vice-Principal E. Rama, were also present at the event.
