Metro India News | Hyderabad : Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday to seek immediate Central clearance, financial assistance, and sanction for several high-priority road, bridge, and ropeway projects across the State. The bilateral meeting took place on the side-lines of the two-day Chintan Shivir-2026, jointly inaugurated by both leaders at the Statue of Unity complex in Ekta Nagar, Narmada district, Gujarat.
Highlighting the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy emphasised that road infrastructure and inter-state connectivity remain top priorities for the Telangana government. Expressing gratitude for existing Central support under the Setu Bandhan and Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) schemes, the Minister submitted a comprehensive slate of infrastructure demands.
Komatireddy requested sanction for a 6-km double-decker elevated corridor as part of the 2026–27 Annual Plan. The Minister urged the Centre to adopt a viaduct design instead of a Reinforced Earth (RE) wall along the NH-65 LB Nagar–Malkapur section, allowing seamless integration with Phase-2 of the Miyapur–LB Nagar Metro Rail expansion.
The Minister urged the Centre to fast-track the financial and Cabinet clearances for the 161.5-km Northern RRR (Sangareddy–Choutuppal), where over 90% of land acquisition awards are complete and NHAI tenders have been floated. The Minister also urged the Centre to take up the Southern RRR section on identical terms to support the upcoming Bharat Future City and industrial clusters.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy urged Gadkari to expedite the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to establish high-speed freight access between the two Telugu states, linking Telangana's proposed dry port with access toward Bandar Port. The Minister urged the sanction of Rs 1,227.75 crore for 33 CRIF road projects spanning 511.68 km, along with three major Railway Over/Under Bridges (ROBs/RUBs) in Kothagudem, Sultanabad, and Nalgonda for 2026–27.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari responded positively to the representations and assured that the Ministry would evaluate the proposals constructively to accelerate Telangana's infrastructure development.
Minister seeks sanction for eco-friendly tourism projects
The Minister further requested the sanction of Rs 1,230 crore across five eco-friendly tourist and spiritual ropeways connecting Yadadri, Hanuman Hill (Nalgonda), Nagarjuna Sagar, Ramagiri Fort (Peddapalli), and Killa Ramalayam (Nizamabad). He also sought sanction for an elevated corridor on NH-765 through the tiger reserve on the Hyderabad–Srisailam route to protect wildlife ecology while improving access for pilgrims.
