Telangana Police Sports Meet kicks off with enthusiasm

The 4th Telangana State Police Sports and Games Meet 2026 commenced on Friday at the Cyberabad Police Parade Ground with grandeur. State DGP B. Shivdhar Reddy inaugurated the events after receiving a ceremonial guard of honor. Cyberabad CP Dr. M. Ramesh lit the sports flame, officially starting the competitions, while participants and officials sang “Jaya Jayahe Telangana,” filling the ground with state pride.

Addressing the gathering, DGP Shivdhar Reddy lauded police personnel for managing high-profile responsibilities like global summits, international football matches, elections, and the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara with dedication. He emphasized the importance of sports in instilling leadership, teamwork, discipline, mental strength, and confidence.

Dr. M. Ramesh noted participation from 2,532 athletes across 33 districts, including 300 women, and highlighted Telangana hosting the upcoming All India Police Football Championships. He thanked TGPA officials and stadium authorities and detailed that 31 sports events are scheduled, with 14 for women. National-level winners will receive cash awards along with increments.

Sports IG Dr. Gajraju Bhupal honored decorated athletes, including Arjuna Awardee S. Jayaram. Teams from multiple commissionerates and specialized units participated. DGP Reddy watched a volleyball match and interacted with Young India Police School students. A Police Expo, inaugurated by DGP’s wife Hem Shivdhar Reddy, showcased health, nutrition, fitness, and sports equipment, attracting wide interest from officers and visitors.
