TG government allows school students’ tour to Ramoji Film City

The Telangana government is under fire for charging Rs. 1,000 per student to visit Ramoji Film City (RFC). Teachers are worried about the special discounted tour, which was approved by School Education Director Dr. E Naveen Nicolas. They draw attention to the fact that general school field trips have been prohibited for years due to previous mishaps, such as the devastating Beas River incident in 2014.

Teachers wonder why, only weeks after issuing stringent directives prohibiting student outings, the department is making a special exception for a private commercial entity like RFC. The move, according to critics, puts the interests of a film city ahead of legitimate educational institutions like museums and zoos. Attractions and lunch are included in the package, but schools are responsible for paying for their own transportation.
