The cast and crew of the highly-anticipated film launched its trailer amidst much fanfare

The much-awaited trailer of Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups was unveiled on August 8 in Bengaluru, and the grand launch turned into a fashion spectacle as the film’s leading ladies arrived in some seriously striking looks. Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi brought four completely different fashion moods to the event, ranging from sultry and dramatic to classic and traditional. Meanwhile, lead actor Yash opted for a classy brown and black outfit. The stars spoke at length about their experience oif working in the film.

Yash breaks silence on Toxic being ‘shelved’ rumours

Speaking at the trailer launch, Yash said, “Every 10th day or 20th day, there will be news about a film being shelved, a film being stopped. I don’t know from where they write these stories.” The actor revealed that Toxic was shot for around 200 days and explained the reason behind the long gap. Yash added, “It might look like I’ve taken a long gap, trust me. We started August 8, two years ago. This film was shot for 200 days. We have shot two versions. You can see every penny we have spent. It is on screen.” Yash also took a moment during the event to thank his wife, Radhika Pandit, for standing by him throughout the demanding process.

Nayanthara makes an exception for Yash

Despite being one of the biggest names in the South film industry, Nayanthara refrains from giving interviews and attending any kind of promotional events and pre-release functions for her projects.

However, Nayanthara, who will soon be seen essaying the role of Ganga in Toxic, made an exception as she was seen at the film’s trailer launch event on Saturday, along with the rest of the cast.

During her address at the trailer launch event, Nayanthara revealed why she avoids such promotional events. The actress claimed that she decided to make an exception only for Yash.

She shared, “It’s not that I don’t want to attend promotional events. It’s just that I’m not good very good at it. So I stay away from it. But this was special because so many reasons. But I think it’s just Yash. He just made a call, and it was enough for me to attend the event.”

Nayanthara further spoke about what made her experience working with Yash in the film different. “Everyone’s big, everyone’s cool. They are really good. That’s why they are superstars. But with Yash, when I met him the first time, the kind of larger-than-life image that he actually has, that’s how he really is in person also,” she added.

Huma ‘honoured’ to act in Toxic

Actress Huma Qureshi said she is honoured to be a part of Toxic. The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas and will feature the actress in the role of Elizabeth alongside Yash. Qureshi said she has been getting a lot of questions about the film.

“The love that I’ve been getting since the time I signed this film has just been incredible. Whenever I go anywhere, and I’ve met so many of you members of the media and press for the last year, the one single thing that everyone asks me all the time is about Toxic. And whether I say something or not, I think you guys just make it go viral. That is the power of this film,” she said in a statement.

“Geetu, you have been such an amazing chapter, giving us all. And every time I get asked about my character, I’m like, ‘Wait, I can’t tell you too much. You have to watch the film.’ And the film will speak for itself. I’m just honoured to be part of it. Thank you, Yash. You have been incredible. I have learnt so much from you every single day. I’m just so excited to watch the film already. Can we just release it now,” she added.

The film also stars Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria and unfolds in Goa between the early 1940s and the 1970s. It will hit the silver screens on August 26.
