Three Ganja peddlers—Subhash Mishal, Pabitra Bira, and Bapun Bidika—were arrested along with four consumers during a police operation at Railway Quarters No.1003, Chilkalguda, on March 11. Police seized 11.530 kilograms of Ganja, two grams of loose Ganja, and three mobile phones, with an estimated value of Rs. 4.38 lakh.

The accused, all natives of Rayagada District, Odisha, were involved in the illegal transport and sale of Ganja in Hyderabad. They procured the contraband from their supplier, Mali, who is currently absconding, and targeted customers in and around the Secunderabad Railway Station. The operation revealed that the accused collaborated to make quick money, selling the drug at inflated prices due to financial difficulties and lack of stable income.

The four consumers, aged between 21 and 24, were also apprehended. Police investigations indicate that the accused followed a systematic network, transporting the Ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad and distributing it to known users in the city.

The raid was conducted jointly by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, and Chilkalguda Police, under the supervision of Inspector J Raj Shekar and Inspector V. Rama Krishna. Officials confirmed that further steps are being taken to trace the absconding supplier and dismantle the wider network behind the illegal Ganja trade in Hyderabad.
