Two killed, four hurt in Toronto fest shooting

I am horrified by the shooting that has killed two people at the Salsa on St Clair Festival in Toronto. My prayers are with the families grieving their loved ones, those critical, and everyone affected by this horrific event.

Toronto: At least two people were killed and four others injured in a shooting at a street festival in Toronto, Canada, police said.

Officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the annual Salsa on St Clair festival on Saturday evening. Police said two people exchanged gunfire during the event, which drew about 13,000 people. Two firearms were recovered from the scene.

Deputy Police Chief Francisco Barredo described the scene as “very chaotic” and said investigators were examining three crime scenes. No arrests had been made and the motive remained unclear.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford condemned the “senseless violence”, saying the person responsible “must be caught, brought to justice and spend the rest of their life behind bars”.

Police urged the public to avoid the area and appealed for witnesses or anyone with information, including videos of the incident, to come forward. —Agencies
